Brooke is just loving summer so far. Summer means mommy school, new experiences, and new adventures. We can sleep in, or watch movies, or bake. We can go to museums, or parks, or the pool. We can make play dough, or create stories. Though we have whatever we want at our fingertips, one activity that she has loved since the day she was born, and still can’t wait to do today, is reading. One of her favorite books right now is the first book in the Everyday Magic Series, called Morning Magic. It is such a fun book, and she just loves reading it. She enjoys when I read it to her, and she can also read it herself (with a little help). It has a great rhyming flow to it (which I personally love in books), and she adores the main character, and her silliness. It is such a cute book, and we can’t wait to check out more in the series.
About Morning Magic:
It’s the first day of a new school year for Emily, a trainee witch. After a hasty breakfast she rushes to her room to get dressed. After all, she doesn’t want to be late on day one! But her clothing seems to have other ideas. Her chest of drawers is feeling grumpy and won’t open. Her socks don’t want to be worn and make a mad dash for freedom. And her witch’s hat is simply missing in action. Despite these delays, can she figure out the ‘Get Dressed’ spell and still make it to school on time?
Though reading is an old time favorite, she also has a new found love: Her blog. Yes, you read that right. My 5 year old daughter has a blog. After seeing mommy take pics, receive things in the mail, and spend time on the computer writing, she decided that she wanted to have one of her own. She loves being creative, so I see it as another way for her to express herself. She does the writing, and drawing, and I just put it up there on the site. She is thrilled to see her blog progressing, and is always talking about what else she wants to put on it. For me, I see it as a wonderful way to keep her writing, creating, and busy during the summer. Plus, it’s an easy way for me to document what’s going on in her/our life, and will be fun to look at down the road. Who knows.. she might really fall in love with it, and keep it up passed the summer. Only time will tell. For now, I’ll keep putting her work on there, as much as she wants to create it.
