Fall has officially begun, and though I am sad to see the warm days of summer go, I do love the cozy feel of fall. The crispness in the air, the changing of leaves, and the wearing of boots, all illicit fond memories of this time of year. In order to celebrate, we went to Sun High Farms in New Jersey to go apple picking. It was time for me to mark apple picking off my bucket list, and with family in town visiting us, it made for the perfect opportunity to do so.
Before leaving, we obviously prepared for our adventure at the farm, by making some delicious sandwiches for a lovely picnic. We used our squeezable Smuckers jelly, and brought along some other yummy snacks we picked up at Walmart (our Snackation Destination).
Once we arrived, we didn’t know where to start first. They had everything you could ever want at a farm in the fall – a pumpkin patch, apple picking, farm animals, tracker rides, pony rides, and of course, hot apple cider and apple cider donuts.
We decided we’d tackle the apple picking first. They had all types, from Fuji and Macoun, to Cortlandt and Red Delicious. We filled our bags with the perfect mix of apples to make Papa’s famous apple sauce.
We then enjoyed a hayride around the farm, where we got to see rows and rows of apples, and plots of flowers.
That was followed by some time with the farm animals, and a stroll through the pumpkin patch.
After all this fall fun, we enjoyed our picnic, and topped it off with a scrumptious cinnamon apple cider donut. (Can you tell she loves her auntie? 🙂 )
It was the perfect of fall days, and I couldn’t have asked for more!
